Extremadura

Extremadura

Rolling hills, vast steppes, cork oak forests and craggy cliffs. Extremadura offers truly beautiful landscape and spectacular birds are seen everywhere. I've visited the Spanish region of Extremadura on three occassions. The first time in November 2013 with a friend of mine and then again in May 2017 and May 2018 as tour leader and photography guide for the travel agency Avifauna. This is a collection of some of the best and most varied photos from these three photography trips. Some of the highlights in Extremadura for a bird photographer are Spanish imperial eagle, vast numbers of cinereous vulture and griffon vulture, Bonneli's eagle, egyptian vulture, great bustard, Iberian azure-winged magpie, omnipresent white storks, bee-eaters, hoopoes, rollers, and much, much more.
